Greetings & Introductions
Dear Chesapeake Watershed Semester Students and Families,
My name is Bradley Hirsh and I am the new Director of the Chesapeake Watershed Semester. I am delighted to be working with you this upcoming semester! I’m happily getting settled into the office, and I wanted to reach out to you to address any questions that you may have about the upcoming Chesapeake Watershed Semester. I am a familiar face to many Gunston students because I have led a series of Bay Studies trips while I worked for Sultana Education Foundation, but I look forward to getting to know Gunston students and families even better over the coming months. With that in mind, I want to give you a quick synopsis of my background. I have been working in education for the past 21 years. Most recently, I was the Director of Paddling Programs at Sultana Education Foundation.
Before my time at Sultana, I spent time teaching humanities in the classroom at The Swain School (an independent Pre-K-8 school in Allentown, Pa.) and the Sage Ridge School (an independent middle and high school in Reno, Nev.). In addition to working in the classroom, I have extensive experience in outdoor education beyond Sultana, I worked at Echo Hill Outdoor School as a staff naturalist and also served as the Outdoor Education Coordinator at the Swain School. At every stop on my educational journey, building partnerships have been central. I endeavor to build partnerships with students and families and firmly believe that schools and families are working in tandem with each other. With that in mind, please feel free to reach out to me via email (bhirsh@gunston.org) or by phone (410-708-7124). If you would like, I would also be happy to schedule a meeting in person on the Gunston campus. Again, I cannot wait to meet all of you and your children and start this new semester!
Yours,
Bradley Hirsh, Director of Chesapeake Watershed Semester
